Olivia Harris is a self-taught documentary photographer and filmmaker.
She worked in the theatre, directing and producing plays before dedicating herself to pictures. She trained as a photojournalist for Reuters in London and South-East Asia; covering stories in earthquake-stricken Nepal, people trafficking in the Andaman Sea and elections in Myanmar, as well as running picture operations in Malaysia.
She now focuses on long term documentary work with a particular interest in gender. Her clients include the New York Times, Guardian, Stern and Time magazine.
She won first prize at World Press Photo for her story about the Irish abortion referendum. Her work has been exhibited around the world.
She lives in London, UK.
